Un panel sur l'aide humanitaire en Haïti
David Austin est le co-fondateur de l'Institut Alfie Roberts, un
centre d'éducation et de recherche basé à Montréal qui travaille avec
les diasporas africaines et antillaises. Il est aussi l'éditeur de A
View for Freedom: Alfie Roberts Speaks on the Caribbean, Cricket,
Montreal, and C.L.R. James. David Austin a aussi contribué à plusieurs
publications progressistes et rédige maintenant son deuxième livre.
Jean St-Vil est né en Haïti. Il est un militant basé à Ottawa qui fait
partie de la diaspora haïtienne au Canada. Il a été un commentateur
sur l'émission Counterspin au réseau CBC, Talk Politics sur CPAC, et
The Current sur CBC Radio. Il est aussi un journaliste radiophonique
communautaire, l'auteur de plusieurs livres, et un fondateur du Canada
Haïti Action Network, un réseau de solidarité qui travaille sur les
enjeux d'éducation publique. Il est aussi un co-fondateur de
l'organisme à but non-lucratif AKASAN qui mobilise des ressources pour
supporter des initiatives entreprises par et pour les haïtien-ne-s.

A panel discussion on disaster relief in Haiti with Jean St-Vil and David Austin
David Austin and Jean St-Vil will look together at the history of occupied Haiti, and the current realities of Haiti's people since the earthquake.
David Austin is the co-founder of the Alfie Roberts Institute, an independent education and research centre based in Montreal working with African and Caribbean diaspora communities. He is also the editor of A View for Freedom: Alfie Roberts Speaks on the Caribbean, Cricket, Montreal, and C.L.R. James. David Austin has contributed to various progressive publications and is currently working on his second book.
Jean St-Vil was born in Haiti. He is an Ottawa-based activist within the Haitian diaspora in Canada. He has been a featured commentator on CBC Television's Counterspin, CPAC's Talk Politics, and CBC Radio's The Current. He is also a community radio journalist, author of several books, and a founder of the Canada Haiti Action Networka solidarity network which works on public education issues. He is also a co-founder of the non for profit organization AKASANwhich mobilizes resources to support worthy initiatives undertaken by and for Haitians.
