In retrospect every dummy is an expert in trade agreement. Given the technological advances of the United States over the other countries of the hemisphere I don't think NAFTA was such a bad idea. What Bill Clinton didn't take into consideration is the greed of the owners of the means of production. These greedy capitalists don't have any allegiance to any country ; they will produce their goods where they can pay workers 3 dollars a day even if the Americans workers will be left in the unemployment lines.

The North American Free Trade Agreement is not that bad for American companies. Bill Clinton was too naïve to think if American companies are making money by selling their goods and services all over the continent they will share their profits with the American people. Again this shows that trickle down is voodoo economic.

Should isolationism be the answer to the economic malaise ? I don't think so.
Let's assume for a moment That GE, Boeing, Apple, Microsoft ,Ford General Motors ,Exxon mobile ,Chevron Delmonte, Dole and all the big U.S. companies were paying their fare shares of taxes on the profits they make on the sales of their goods and services to other countries of the hemisphere and the U.S. government was able to use these taxes to rebuild and modernize our infrastructures would NAFTA be a bad idea?

I don't hear Donald Trump and all the other morons who are against free trade complain When China and Vietnam are buying billions of dollars worth of airplanes from Boeing. or from General electric and Apple
.
The American workers will never be the beneficiaries of free trade if people like Donald Trump prefer to outsource manufacturing jobs outside the country where they can pay workers 3 dollars a day and using loopholes in the tax code to avoid paying their fair shares of Taxes
.
The inequality that exists between the 1% and the 99% is not the result of Free trade ; it is rather the consequence of the greed of capitalists like Donal Trump who refuse to pay their fair share of taxes to the government and the misconducts and irresponsibilities of Republican obstructionists in the Congress of the United States who stated clearly their only objective is to make The Obama presidency a failure.

The Benefits of NAFTA

The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) has contributed to economic growth, job growth, and investment growth. NAFTA is responsible for generating 5 million jobs in the U.S., and GDP has grown by 63% since the agreement went into effect. This is 10 percentage points higher than the average growth rate of all OECD nations during that time.
